Anderson & Kreiger LLP’s Tamara Wolfson Receives 2020 Top Women of Law Award from Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly

Tamara Wolfson, a partner in the firm’s insurance group, will receive the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly Top Women of Law Award on November 17, 2020 in a virtual ceremony.  The Top Women of Law event celebrates the achievements of exceptional women lawyers who are pioneers, educators, trailblazers and role models.

Tamara started her career in insurance coverage handling some of the early multi-insurer litigation concerning coverage for environmental clean-up costs.  Over the years, she has won millions of dollars in contested coverage payments for clients. She works closely with insurers, including captives for hospitals and health care systems, on a variety of coverage, bad faith and claims handling issues and has successfully defended insurers in numerous bad faith suits alleging bad faith claims handling and wrongful failure to settle underlying suits resulting in multi-million dollar excess judgments.  Tamara has been the principal drafter and editor of medical malpractice and related policies for healthcare systems that are used in jurisdictions throughout the country by a leading insurer. She is currently on a team handling cutting edge coverage issues arising from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tamara has been a pioneer and role model for many women in law, especially those sharing her passion for social justice and insurance law.  Tamara chairs the firm’s pro bono program at and was the head of the pro bono program when she was a partner at Palmer & Dodge.  At both firms, she helped to expand the breadth and depth of the firm’s pro bono programs.  Tamara also served as a member of the Volunteer Lawyers Project board for over twenty years, and earlier in her career served on the Board of Directors of the Political Asylum and Immigration Representation Project (when it was in its infancy) and on the Board of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights.

Tamara is committed to helping other women succeed in insurance law (and other areas), including by mentoring associates at her firm and elsewhere.
