Anderson & Kreiger was pleased to participate in the Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) 2021 Annual Conference on November 6 – 9, 2021, in Reno, NV. The conference brings together airport legal professionals and consultants to identify and discuss the most pressing legal developments and issues associated with the airport industry.
Mina Makarious, a member of ACI-NA’s Legal Steering Committee, moderated an Airport Use Agreements and Airline Consortia panel. The panel discussed the effects of the pandemic on AUAs, AULAs, and consortia agreements at large, medium and small hubs, including issues arising from changed airline service, adjustments to rate formulas and terminal space reallocation.
Melissa Allison, David Mackey, Christina Marshall, and Mina were also all part of the litigation update panel where they talked about current cases of importance including Anderson & Kreiger’s work in representing the City of Los Angeles and the Massachusetts Port Authority in litigation with Turo arising out of the rental car company’s unpermitted presence at the curbside and parking lots at LAX and Logan Airports; our representation of the City of San Francisco in a dispute with A4A over the application of the City’s “Healthy Airports Ordinance”; and our amicus brief on behalf of ACI-NA to the D.C. Circuit in Spirit Airlines v. DOT regarding the role airports play in slot and congestion management issues.
