BOSTON, March 27, 2023 – Boston law firm Anderson & Kreiger, LLP announces that Benjamin A. Goldberger, former General Counsel to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy & Environmental Affairs and former Deputy Legal Counsel to Governor Charlie Baker, has joined the firm as Counsel.

Goldberger brings to the firm a wealth of knowledge and experience developing strategy and policy on technically complex legal issues. He focuses his practice on government disputes and opportunities, particularly involving agencies within the Executive Offices of Energy and Environmental Affairs and Housing and Economic Development, providing services in the areas of environmental law, litigation, public law, and internal investigations and government enforcement defense.

“Ben is a highly regarded lawyer and colleague with a well-earned reputation for tackling and solving complex problems,” said Colin Van Dyke, the firm’s Managing Partner. “Ben’s experience in a wide variety of issues for the Baker administration combined with his years as a prosecutor and in private practice, will benefit our clients.  Anderson & Kreiger is thrilled that Ben chose to join our team.”

“I’m excited to continue working on challenging issues in environmental law, public law and internal investigations with the talented lawyers of Anderson & Kreiger,” said Goldberger. “The firm’s deep bench, track record of excellence and commitment to community make it an ideal place to grow my post-government practice.”

After serving three years as General Counsel for the EOEEA and more than four years as Deputy Legal Counsel to Governor Baker, Goldberger has significant subject matter experience with a variety of environmental issues, including the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act, environmental justice issues, public-private partnerships and more. He brings expertise and sound judgment honed at the highest levels of state government to state agency and municipal clients faced with the challenging aspect of Massachusetts public law.

Goldberger’s prior experience also includes seven years as an Assistant District Attorney for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office with a focus on white collar crime and public corruption and as an associate and partner at McDermott, Will & Emery, LLP. As an ADA, he developed a specialty in financial crimes and public employee investigations, handling high profile matters including a successful prosecution of a significant Ponzi scheme that received national recognition. He has tried more than three dozen cases to jury verdict and he has argued a number of appeals.
