Overview

With nearly twenty years of litigation experience, clients turn to Charles for his expertise in insurance coverage, complex litigation, and appellate matters. Charles began his legal career at the Washington, D.C. office of a multi-national firm, handling complex insurance coverage matters, including coverage for asbestos claims, major product liability cases, and environmental liabilities.  He also advised clients and litigated matters involving first-party property and specialty lines, including major equipment breakdown and lost profits claims, directors’ and officers’ liability insurance, and professional and hospital liability coverage.  Charles has significant experience litigating extra-contractual and bad-faith claims in multiple jurisdictions.

Charles also has served as in-house coverage counsel for a major insurer and specialty run-off company.  Charles joins A&K from CNA in Boston, where he was a member of the claims counsel group and specialized in environmental and mass tort claims.  Previously he was a litigation attorney at the RiverStone Group in Manchester, New Hampshire, providing advice on long-tail coverage matters and overseeing a substantial litigation portfolio.

After law school, Charles served as a law clerk to Chief Judge John M. Walker, Jr. on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and was a John M. Olin Fellow in Law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
