Our Team

Anderson & Kreiger’s Internal Investigations lawyers bring sophisticated backgrounds to bear, and provide exceptionally responsive client service. The team’s highly respected attorneys include former Massachusetts United States Attorney Carmen Ortiz; Michael Pineault, former Chief of the Economic Crimes Unit at the Boston U.S. Attorney’s Office; David Mackey, former Chief of the Civil Division and then First Assistant U.S. Attorney at the U.S. Attorney’s Office and former General Counsel and Interim CEO at the Massachusetts Port Authority; and Lon Povich, former Chief Legal Counsel to Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker and former federal prosecutor in the United States Attorney’s Office. A&K lawyers draw from their diverse backgrounds, government experience, and access to resourceful networks to help clients see what is occurring in their organizations and how they may appropriately remediate ongoing issues.

Our Work

Our attorneys are called upon to investigate virtually any behavior that disrupts the smooth operation of organizations and threatens reputations. For example, an A&K attorney was recently appointed as a Special Master by a Federal District Court Judge to assess Clean Air Act felony charges. Other group attorneys are retained by prestigious colleges and universities to conduct highly sensitive Title IX investigations that span a wide range of allegations, including claims of sex-based violence and harassment. The firm also has handled high profile investigations concerning MassDOT and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority’s Title VI Compliance Program, as well as allegations of workplace misconduct. In addition to these very visible matters, the firm also conducts complex investigations involving whistleblower complaints, environmental contamination, the misuse of federal grant funds, and payroll fraud, among others.

Clients who retain A&K work directly with senior attorneys who acutely understand the legal, operational, and cultural issues associated with all types of internal investigations.
